Whats up good people, we at LPR have been charged with the duty to give you the pure uncut 100% deal. On this episode the group 84 expresses some very strong opinions about one of the scenes movers and shakers Dj Ultraviolet. This isn't the first time we've had a guest on the show address issues that they may have with someone in the industry. Prior to this show Baby Blak addressed Tayyib Smith, and Dj Cash Money spoke about his disappointment in both Questlove and Dj Jazzy Jeff. And moving foward we hope this wont be the last time that a guest feels comfortable enough on our show to exhibit that level of honesty. What we hope and anticipate is that discussions like these will become more frequent off the air creating a greater level of understanding within the local entertainment community, and we will do our best to create a level of consistency on our program in regards to the fair manner in which we approach and report these issues. The following is a statement from Dj Ultraviolet addressing the issue. ----------------------------------------------------- It has been brought to my attention, that on last night's Living Proof radio show, the hip hop group 84 had some things to say about me and last week's Diamond District show (a gig they were openers for). I had no idea they were going to go public with a business agreement that I had with them. At the end of the day, this was a misunderstanding from my point of view. Thankfully, I've been given the opportunity to say my peace. I have been DJing and throwing events in Philly for 7 years. I have never, EVER had an issue with ANY artist that I have booked. As someone who also gets booked, I would be a liar if I said I've never experienced not being paid in a timely fashion or even being paid at all. But I have NEVER publicly humiliated anyone that I've dealt with because contrary to what some people may think, I know business and I know that sometimes shit does not go according to plan. I don't believe in threatening people with violence because that's just fuckin' stupid. I have always dealt with people on a respectable level. As far as 84, our business issue has been resolved since the interview. I don't need to go into "he say/she say/I said/they said" because I don't get down like that. I believe money matters should be kept private. For them to go on air ( and on camera) and drag my good name in the mud was unfair. They have been in my corner since I bought my first tables 7 years ago. In turn, I have been a supporter of their music and supported them as people as well. Needless to say I was very surprised when they took the route that they did. I'm a fair person, which is why I did not want to discuss the Diamond District show with anyone who was not involved because they weren't going to be around to say their peace...it's no one's business anyway. I consider myself a very successful person as far as achieving what I have in the city. Now, I am moving on with my label Bee Eater Records. This "industry" is ego driven and I've known that since day ONE. The ones that stay humble are the ones that go the furthest and THAT is a fact. Again, I am not here to start any beefs. I've confronted this to protect my integrity, my brand(s) and my name. I feel as though this could've been handled differently on BOTH parties ends. At the end of the day, I have a lot more supporters than I do haters, which is dope. Unfortunately, I will not see many of you at the finish line. Business aside, I value the real friendships that I have with people. I was more upset than anything about the situation from the radio show, not just the 84 thing. Remember: there are two sides to every story. Check both before you form an opinion or decide to go public with private matters... UV
